This website is created and edited by the Coton Busway Action Group (CBAG), committed to helping Cambridge achieve a sustainable, credible, transport strategy.
We welcome the proposals from Cambridge-Connect, Smarter Cambridge Transport and Cambridge, Past, Present and Future which are intended to create that sustainable future. We support the case from Save the West Fields and other groups that believe Cambridge needs more credible solutions than an expensive busway through the Green Belt which would fundamentally change the environment to the west of Cambridge.
In 2015 we developed a proposal for a high speed but on-road bus link from Cambourne to Cambridge called A Streetcar We Desire.
In 2016 we completed a spatial survey of the A1303 from Madingley Mulch to Junction 13 of the M11 and have proposed bus lanes along that section of Madingley Road/Rise and a separate dedicated cycle route from Hardwick through Coton along The Footpath to the City Centre.
In 2017, CBAG has mainly concentrated on supporting the efforts of the Local Liaison Forum (LLF) and raising awareness within the community of the GCP plans. We continue to challenge the GCP’s seeming conviction that an off-road busway must be built between Cambourne and Cambridge. We ask questions at the Joint Assembly and Board Meetings and organised a protest march in September.
